HOURSSSSS

Yesterday at 5 oclock, I went to the studio and learned how to edit a show. I was there from 5 to 6:30. It seemed a lot easier than i thought it was going to be, but i know that is just because he made it look easy.

Hours!!

Today i stayed after to help out with the first taping of SSN. I was probably there for an hour.  But it was great seeing how productions happen.

Midterm

I have been involved with the MOC sports anchoring. Since myself, and a good number of my fellow classmates, are interested in becoming sport broadcasters, the MOC sports is a great way to become experienced with the field. Going to the meetings is a good way to find out what sports are going on for that week, which ones need to be shot, who is working at those shoots, and also how many people they need there. I have been able to help out with one of the volleyball games. At that game, I was asked to start off by taking notes. I had to document if someone made a good shot, if someone blocked the shot, and if someone aced a shot. Not only did I have to pay close attention to the game’s shots, but I also had to know who made that shot, whether it was our team or the others, and also what time on the tap it happened at. These are both very critical pieces of information. The number of the person who made the great shot will give them credit if their shot is used in the highlight reel. The time it happened on the tape will also be very important because if one of the people editing and cutting the tape wants to use one specific great shot, they need to be able to look at the notes, see the time, and then immediately go to the time o the tape and see the shot. This will save the person editing time, and energy to make the highlights even better than they could have been before.  Along with all of that, I would also take notes on when the camera person decided to take a team shot, or a shot of the scoreboard. I would mark the times down when that happened so the person editing could go back and find them quickly. After I took notes for the game, I was put on recording duties. While recording, I could be more experienced in what to shot, how to shot it, and when to yell out a time for the note taker to take down. Filming allowed me to be in charge of what the highlights from the second half would be. I was able to control what shots were recorded, and hopefully not miss anything. I also learned when to take a group shot, when to zoom in and out, when to take a shot of the coaches, and when to take a shot of the scoreboard. While I was doing all of this I had to yell out the time so the note taker could write it down, and write what I took a shot of. The volleyball game allowed me to become more aware of what my hopeful profession has to offer, and the MOCs sports allows me to become more acquainted with the tasks needed to be done for sports broadcasting.  After class today, I am actually going to help set up for the first SSN taping.
