One more hour..
I also was in the dockery lab for an hour today helping you with your triathlon video. Learning how to use final cut is definitely a needed skill in the industry.
FINAL i cant believe i forgot to turn it in yesterday.
I have learned a lot more than I actually ever intended on learning in my first news media class. Going in, I realized I was very unfamiliar with the terminology and programs used in the broadcast industry. But having been in the class, I have learned what final cut is, how many frames are in a second, and also how much time and effort goes in to editing and making an overall effective clip. I have been able to assist in the taping of a volleyball game and also a basketball game. I found this to be very interesting because I am hoping to be a sports broadcaster (along with more than half of the students in your news media class) and being able to get some experience taking notes about sports and also taping games, like knowing when to zoom in on a team huddle, and when to zoom in onto the scoreboard. Also, being able to watch and assist with the sports show was very interesting. I was able to learn how to use the teleprompter, learn about switching cameras to add affect during an interview, how many takes it takes to get the show exactly how they want it, and also I learned how to be in front of a camera. With all of the people used for the sports show now, its hard to imagine how hard it was to get everything done last year when there were less people interested in the sports show. There needs to be someone working the audio, there needs to be people working both cameras, there needs to be a person working on the teleprompter, and also there needs to be people listening for mistakes. A lot of time and effort go into the sports show, and I personally do not think John and Kevin got the attention they should have. Towards the end of the semester I helped some of the students in your intro to broadcast class with their final projects and that was also great experience. Watching the students film everything on their own showed me how much more I have to learn. Also, they edited everything themselves, and with me being new to final cut, that was a definite reality check. I am hoping to take that class eventually. I have spent more time using final cut helping you with your triathlon video. There are so many different things that can be done to change the effectiveness of the video. The different transitions, the speed of the video, and even the music added can all be a hit or miss. Next semester I am hoping to be more involved with the sports show, assisting and learning anything and everything I can. Also, I am hoping to learn more about the broadcast industry in general, with all of the new technology coming out it is vital information to keep up to date on. And I am also very sorry this is late, I was sick yesterday and completely forgot until now.

Today at 4 i went to the studio and helped john with his sports radio show and got to see what they talk about and the casual setting it takes place in, and then helped him edit the sports show we taped wednesday. I was there for two hours.

Monday i helped mud the studio for an hour. Tuesday i helped out in the studio and then helped you with your video and transitions for two hours. That was the first time i had ever used final cut so i found that really helpful. Wednesday i stayed after for the taping of the interview for an hour, and then i helped tape and take notes at the basketball game for highlights for two hours.
